Bushbaby River Lodge is located in a low risk malaria area. This means that you do have to take measures against malaria. We offer mosquito nets and air conditioning in the room. Please wear long sleeves and pants at dusk and dawn and spray. A visit to Kruger Park is considered low risk malaria area, so consult your doctor on all necessary precautions.

As long as you adhere to the basic rules (don’t drive after sunset, leave your personal belongings and valuables in your safe, don’t wear a lot of jewellery etc.), you will find that the negative image of South Africa when it comes to safety is not justified. Bushbaby River Lodge is based in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate where we enjoy 24/7 security. Hoedspruit is a rural area with low crime rates. It is no problem to drive at night to Hoedspruit’s restaurants.
Yes, the rooms are designed for 2 adults, but we can accommodate an extra single bed or cot in the room for your child or baby. We are based on the bank of a riverbed that is not fenced. Also, children under 10 years need adult supervision to swim in our deep pool.
No, unfortunately pets are not allowed at the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate as visitors.

Bushbaby River Lodge is situated on a tar road that is in excellent condition. The road network around Bushbaby River Lodge is in perfect condition and you can get to pretty much every attraction in a small 2WD car. You only need a high clearance or 4WD car to drive up to Mariepskop.

Hoedspruit is an excellent destination to visit year round. The South African winter (the European summer) is dry and not too hot, the African summer (the European winter) is warm and has a period of short rains.
